Dr Rick Hanson

Dr Rick Hanson is a psychologist and has written and taught about the essential inner skills of personal well-being, psychological growth, and contemplative practice ? as well as about relationships, family life, and raising children.

Rick has written books such as: Hardwiring Happiness, Buddha's Brain, Just One Thing, and Mother Nurture. He edits the Wise Brain Bulletin and has several audio programs. He is a summa cum laudegraduate of UCLA and founder of the Wellspring Institute for Neuroscience and Contemplative Wisdom, he?s been an invited speaker at Oxford, Stanford, and Harvard, and taught in meditation centers worldwide. His work has been featured on BBC, CBS, and NPR, and he offers the free Just One Thing newsletter with over 100,000 subscribers, plus the online Foundations of Well-Being program in positive neuroplasticity.

Rick first began meditating in 1974 and since then has studied and practiced in several traditions. At the end of 2008, he completed a nine-year term on the Board of Spirit Rock Meditation Center. He is a graduate of the Community Dharma Leader training program, and leads a weekly meditation group in San Rafael, California. He taught at the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, New York Insight, the Sati Center, and many other meditation centers.
